  1. The glowing crystals are really cool- you might want to look up some ways to make them glow in and out as a light source. There’s probably some basic scripts online that would make them wax and wane brightness slowly, and it’d look really good.

  2. You did an amazing job with the color palette on your level. The interior and exterior areas feel very different, but still seem to belong in the same world together. The whole style of this is great, I’m really looking forward to seeing it finished.

  3. Eric, I love this design. Mostly because I pushed much of my life into Blood Dragon at one point and I have a I’m big into this whole Dune thing goin on. At the music comp class, you were having a tough time finding the right way to describe what music you wanted and we ended up at a muddled Hotline Miami, another game I enjoy way too much. I suggest you take a look at the opening scene to Drive as well as a new show on Cinemax called The Knick. I’m sure you and your music comp partner could find something awesome from the two of those.

  4. Nice work on the color. It looks very consistent. I like the level design which include both interesting inside and magnificent landscape. It is amazing how you made those really simple rocks, and they looks great! My question is, for the outside, what would you do with the sky?

  5. The level and the color pallet looks great. The sky makes it feel like you are in another world. The sky looks great for it to fit the spacial vibe. I’m not sure if you are going with the flat color, maybe try to make a gradient of some kind.

  6. Really liking the overall direction this level is going! The colors flow great, and the lighting effects are awesome. By any chance was Halo a part of your inspiration (I’m asking this because of the mysterious arc)? Can’t wait for updates!

  7. I actually haven’t played any Halo games beyond Halo 3 and Halo Reach, although I can definitely see what you mean from what I’ve seen of Halo 4. I got a lot of my inspiration from the book “Dune”, the games “Hotline Miami”, “Farcry 3:Blood Dragon” and Routine. If you’ve ever heard of Stone Ocean or Steel Ball Run, that’s where my inspiration to use absurd colors came from.

  8. This is quickly becoming the project I’m most looking forward to seeing the end result of! I really love how the indoor and outdoor color schemes are so different but flow seamlessly into one another.
My only criticism is that the trees look a bit too visually repetitive, which could be fixed simply by rotating or adding a few extra leaves to some of them.
Looks awesome, though! Can’t wait to see the finished product!

  9. I still can’t get over how cool this level is. I love how simple and sharp everything is, leaving a clear outline. However, using some particle effects- dust, smoke, steam- could break up the focus and really make the sharp parts sharper. Fill the corners and crannys with some steam and it’ll push attention towards the obelisks and crystals.
