You might want to try using slightly more pastel colors for a lot of things, and just using the brighter colors for important things- for example, a bright red apple on a counter with slightly more faded, pastel fruits, to indicate that it’s the specific item you want.
How are you going to block the player from going certain routes? Guards standing there, blockades…?
Yup! There are going to be guards in particular areas, which will encourage the player to move through the level in the pre-planned way! “Paths” will be formed by close together carts and groups of people.
I really like how this is looking, and was also going to comment on the need fore more pastel colors. Some of them seem a bit too instense to be everywhere, so objectives highlightened in that way doul deffinitely stick out without being too out of place. How do you plan on modeiling the groups of people? Are you goign to be using generic figures with back turned and the like to keep from needing excessive detail, or will you have a base that you edit a bit for each type of person before using it multiple times?
