Below are a few screenshots within Unity of my game level. I was going for a very angular/planar look to the game to reflect my reference material.
The level is far from done. I plan to continue working on it to get it finished or to the point where I want it by the end of the week. I will update this post as I progress.
I already changed the normals for the palms to show on both sides!
You might want to experiment with toon shaders for your project a bit. I’m not sure it’s the style you’re going for, but all the bright, colorful textures just scream cel-shaded to me. Giving them the basic lit texture would create some really smooth, pretty shadows, which I think would fit perfectly here.
This level looks really good so far. The work you put into texturing the rocks definitely paid off, they look very cool.
Some of the screenshots in the tunnel seem a little too dark, but that might just be the angle they were taken. You should definitely make sure to get enough light in there that people can see all the detailed work you put into it.
Nice work on modeling those rocks. I have a question, do you model different rocks or only model one rock and rotate it ? I love those coconut trees and maybe you can put some dead body and rescue boat on the beach.
The inside cave rocks are all separate but the entrance rocks are just one, duplicated and rotated in different orientations
The plam trees looks cool, but myabe you could add some foliage around the base of the trees to make it look a bit more natural?
I love this project! It’s a lot of fun and you’re making good use of all the tools you have. I love the cave!
I feel like the cave really overshadows the rest of the landscape, though. Adding some noise to the beach area- mounds of sand, submerged artifacts, even color variation- could make the attention less unbalanced.
