I used a hex grid instead of a square one because 90% of the level geometry is in hexes.

I understand that most things in the Hive are going to be hard edged- the hexagons, lowpoly enemies, and such. However, having some soft shapes- perhaps some fluid honey or blue power liquid or something- would look SUPER cool in contrast to the rigid bodies of the rest of the level. It’d be pretty tough, but even something that RESEMBLES a liquid would be a cool addition.
I really like the colors you picked for your concept with the contrast between the blues and yellows. It could be really interesting to add some blue cones of light emitting from honeycombs such as cones.

Half Life 2: Episode 2 did something similar with blue lights. I think it could be really cool, especially from a distance.
