This processing sketch was designed to replicate a sunset. As the mouse moves downward the sun also moves, changing the sky color as it moves.
The waves use various implementations of the noise function to animate there jittering and opacity.

I like this “sunset simulator” a lot! Now anyone can sort of make their own sunsets.
This sketch is really creative, all of the stages between sun rise and sunset are well documented and the attention to detail, like the water reflection changing, creates a really cool effect.
This was fairly creative. I like how the water ripples also change colors at certain points of the sunset and how the sun has a light ring around it when it is low over the water. I also like how you very slowly fade in the purple color. It is a pretty effect.
The water ripples and how they change color so naturally with the rise and fall of the sun really make this piece great. The dark color that they turn to after the sun has set works out really well.
This is a very creative program and well executed. I do wonder why you left out the orange shades in the sunset though, and why the sun pulses as it reaches level with the water. It’s still very impressive and well executed, and the slow fade to purple was a very nice touch.
I am impressed at how simply yet completely this sketch captures a sunset/sunrise. One possible addition is to make the color transition based on whether the sun is setting/rising since I believe that they can look subtly different.
